Fisher Theatre Self-Guided Backstage Tour Stop 7

The next stop on our tour is the stage door.

This is where the actors enter and exit after a show.

At many other theatres, the Stage Door is traditionally where crowds of patrons will gather after the show in order to meet the cast and possibly get an autograph.  But those theatres typically do not share their buildings the way The Fisher Theatre does.  So, the Stage Door is located in the Loading Dock area of the larger Fisher Building. This location instead provides more of a private entrance and exit for the cast and crew.  Many talented performers have come through this door over the years, like Carol Channing. We have designated security for the stage door to make sure our visiting performers are safe. This is also where the callboard is located. The call board is a central point of communication for a theatre production, containing a plethora of pertinent information for everyone involved.

Once the cast & company arrive for the show or rehearsal, they all sign in on the Company Call Board.

The call board is also the place where any notices are posted for the company such as housing information for their upcoming stops, local restaurants and businesses, sign ups for any promotional meet & greets or appearances and more. Touring casts love visiting local businesses while they are in town, so we are happy to give them lots of suggestions during their stay.
